Bill
I had just gotten to Mike's MineShaft bar, and chatted with Roberta, the head bartender there. The initial disappointment of not finding him there (he was already at Burning Man) was met with a healthy dose of enthusiasm, as Roberta was most helpful. She told me exactly how to get to the secondary road to Gerlach, and said you can go straight through without any problems. When I mounted Bonnie again, I noticed the ipod charger was not working. It was a little adaption I created the day before I left, and was a huge victory for me to know I could have music whenever I was on the bike. This was the second time it was not working, and I elected to turn the key off and investigate. As I was pulling the side panel off, a fellow stopped by, and asked some questions about the bike. An hour later, Bill the electrician had supplied and installed adapters for the battery leads, and connector to the cigarette lighter, while I fished them all through the body of the bike. This was a noteable improvement, as the wire was loose before, inviting me to rip them off whenever I stretched my leg over the seat, and the battery leads were only wrapped around the bolts. I felt blessed, as if some form of universal energy not only cared what I was doing, but put Bill in my space at the exact time that I needed him. I love thinking about that. We ended up talking about everything from the local economy (gold, silver mining and farming primarily) to his wife and kids. A great guy, and a welcome help.
